Kathleen Holloway was faced with the grim realisation in March 2021 that on her birthday the year before, the UK had gone into the first of many COVID-19 lockdowns. A literal year-in-the-life where it all just stood still. Over the next couple of days, it became clear that in fact, it had been quite the opposite. It’s been a year of personal, political, and professional change for everyone in huge ways, but we all seemed to have forgotten that.

She mentioned this to Connie Lawfull, and together they mapped out a way of showing the world what they’d come to realise. They’ve been working together since with young creatives to allow them to share what they’d been doing while they were locked away.

In the process of working with more than 20 collaborators, they discovered that what had started as a need to scream into the void had become a cathartic outlet. The creative process became a healing mechanism. Not only that, but reading and seeing other people's experiences allowed them to look at their own in a different light.
